For the past two days ALA sought to publish an online petition with our preferred service provider, GoPetition.com Pty Ltd. Our petition calls on the responsible minister to dismiss ASIO chief Duncan Lewis after his outrageous statements before a parliamentary committee last Friday.
This petition was rejected by the service provider without a specific reason and our appeal has not been responded to as of Tuesday, 20:00hrs.
We are now in the process of setting up our own online petition platform, which may take some time. In the meantime we encourage you to send the following personal petition as email or letter to the relevant minister.
Share this widely and show solidarity with this important cause. The safety of our families and communities deserves better.
The statement by ASIO head Duncan Lewis is available here: https://vimeo.com/219253388
I have recorded a brief video statement in reply: https://vimeo.com/219482335

Dear Senator Brandis,
I am writing to you as the minister responsible for overseeing ASIO and the appointment of the Director General of ASIO.
On Friday, 26 May 2017, ASIO chief Major General Duncan Lewis AO, DSC, CSC, told a parliamentary committee:
"I have absolutely no evidence to suggest there is a connection between refugees and terrorism."
Given the facts established both here and overseas, his statement is either naive, or he is intentionally misleading Parliament and the Australian people.
I believe Mr Lewis is unfit to continue as ASIO's Director General, the highest appointed official in charge of safe guarding the citizens of Australia. He shows a lack of insight into the relationship between Middle Eastern refugees, Islam and terrorist attacks on our home soil.
I ask that you replace Mr Lewis with a suitable leader, who can deal appropriately with this life threatening situation.
